Our Mission

To provide education and promotion of the gypsy horse breed and make
benevolent gypsy horse contributions to worthy causes, particularly
in support of special needs circumstances, including ability
awareness activities and the American Gypsy Horse Angel Foundation.

Welcome to the
Magical World of the Gypsy Horse Breed

The
gypsy bred horse dates back many years to when Gypsies or Romany
Folk roamed freely across the United Kingdom. The primary
function of these horses was to pull the brightly colored,
bow-topped wagons called Vardos which were the gypsy's home on
wheels. The gypsies would travel year round in these wagons
searching for work during spring picking and harvest seasons.
While initially bred and used as a caravan horse, selected breeding
changes over time created a horse that is magnificent in stature,
intelligent, willing and easy to train, and has a temperament that
is friendly and engaging. Today this beautiful horse can be
seen performing a variety of equine disciplines including driving,
jumping, dressage and trail.
The American Gypsy Horse Association was established to provide
education and promotion of the gypsy horse breed and to make
benevolent gypsy horse contributions to worthy causes, particularly
in support of special needs circumstances. Join the American
Gypsy Horse Breed Association today and experience the magic of
these majestic horses.
